Cross the ford upstream of the old Picot footbridge to reach the area around ‘la maison de la Céline’. Heading upstream along the Chéran River, you will pass spectacular outcrops of this glacial terrace, regularly eroded by the river’s floods.
The finest outcrop of these terraces in the Bauges is at the start of the Pissieu walk, on the left bank of the Nant d'Aillon. Car parks at the Nant d'Aillon bridge on the road between Attilly and Villaret Rouge, at the Châtelard lake and at the ‘Iles du Chéran’ leisure park.
The site invites you to relax and cool off by the river, but beware: in summer, the rivers are subject to increasingly severe low-water periods. Avoid any disturbance that could harm the environment, such as moving pebbles or building dams.
